Cherbourg ferry terminal (gare maritime) to Cherbourg railway station (gare SNCF) & vice versa:
Zephir Bus route 8 links several parts of Cherbourg as well as providing a link between the ferry terminal and railway station and vice versa. The walk from the ferry terminal building to the bus stop takes about four minutes. The bus journey takes six minutes and the bus runs numerous times every day except Sundays.
Using the bus is quite straightforward:
* When the bus is approaching give a hand signal to the driver.
* Board by the front door and state your destination (gare SNCF = railway station/ gare maritime = ferry terminal).The bus also serves the centre of Cherbourg (Schuman).
* Pay for your ticket. The adult single fare is €1.30.
* The driver will issue a Ticket BaZic (sample illustrated below) which should be validated in the orange machine on the left.
* Take a seat and enjoy the journey.
* A screen towards the front of the bus shows the name of the next bus stop. When you see your stop press the bell. Alight through the centre door.

Cross the first road only and follow the footpath to the left.
The bus stop for the gare (railway station) and centre of Cherbourg is opposite La Fregate.
